Preferred Voice Announces Availability of Network-Based Speech Applications
Platform for Wireless Carriers
14 Carriers Nationwide Successfully Installed with Turn-Key Solution
DALLAS, TX. (February 13, 2002) -- Preferred Voice, Inc. (OTC BB: PFVI),
the leading network-based speech application provider, announced today that
their Voice Activated Dialing service is now available to wireless carriers
nationwide. Voice Activated Dialing, which is delivered over the company's
private SS7 VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) network, utilizes a router
switch technology that allows cellular subscribers to access Preferred Voice's
Voice Activated Dialing Platform, while allowing the carrier to process the
call.
Preferred Voice has successfully installed and deployed its
flagship service, VAD (Voice Activated Dialing) in all major telecom switching
environments for both wireless and wireline carriers. Target market size is no
longer a gating issue as smaller and larger carriers and their subscribers reap
the benefits of voice-driven services made possible by the economies of scale
inherent in a centralized service. In addition, revenues are enhanced as the
only investment for carriers is installing a router at the switch site and
marketing the product.
"Until now, voice dialing was only available via
a device-based application, or if a wireless carrier chose to invest millions of
dollars to build their own VAD network," said Bill Schereck, President and COO
for Preferred Voice. "However, by employing Preferred Voice's technology,
wireless carriers can now offer a world-class voice dialing service, while
avoiding the burden of installing the network."
The modular design of
VIPS (Voice Integrated Platform System) allows for expansion from 24 ports,
managing a few thousand calls an hour, to 1970 ports managing over 450,000 calls
per hour. The centralized VIPS solution operates as an out board intelligent
peripheral utilizing Release Link Technology. This enables the platform to
integrate seamlessly into the telephone comany's network for connectivity and
billing. The VIP communicates with the Telco through Cisco gateways over the
AT&T IP network and signals through Illuminet STP's. This configuration
facilitates the integration of speech recognition as an extension of the
telephone company's existing switch.
"Our mission is to enhance existing
telecommunications technology to provide cutting-edge, high-quality,
quick-to-market, and voice-driven services at competitive prices," continued
Schereck. "As more and more wireless and wireline telecom carriers look to
network-based service platforms as the preferred method of delivering new
revenue enhancing applications, Preferred Voice's private network will provide
service delivery for its own service offerings, in addition to serving as a
cost-effective solution for third-party service providers through authorized
network access."
Preferred Voice has completed carrier switch
installations in 26 service areas under agreements with 14 carriers that have
more than 1.7 million subscribers. Carrier switch installations are scheduled to
be completed in 14 additional service areas within the next three months under
five of its previously announced agreements. These carriers have an additional
500,000 subscribers.
