Preferred Voice Begins Deployment with Plateau Telecommunications

DALLAS, TX - (April 19, 2002) - Preferred Voice, Inc. (OTCBB: PFVI), the leading network-based speech application provider, today announced that Plateau Communications, a privately held wireless carrier based in Clovis, New Mexico, is now fully deployed and will begin marketing a new voice dialing technology to their 60,000 customers in each of the company's 12 retail locations.

Voice dialing allows a subscriber access to a "Personal Dialing Directory" via a speed access code such as ** or #0. After accessing the directory the subscriber can either speak the name of the directory listing or the phone number they want to call. Plateau is the tenth carrier to receive Preferred Voice's speech driven services through its nationwide private SS7/VoIP network. "The Preferred Voice Em-Net is rapidly becoming the preferred economic model for network delivery of its speech driven services," said Darryll Whitfield, vice president of engineering for Preferred Voice.

Jack Nuttall, wireless product manager at Plateau stated, "Drivers of Vehicles engage in any number of potentially distracting activities while behind the wheel such as eating, adjusting car radio controls, or other acts that include the use of cellular phones which may cause accidents. However, motorists who choose to utilize a hands-free voice dialing system will allow them to drive more safely." Some states and municipalities, including Santa Fe, have instituted new laws that prohibit the use of cellular phones while operating a vehicle on highways and public streets. Distracted driving for any reason is illegal in all states and according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, it estimates that distractions cause 25 percent of all collisions.

"Our list of carrier partners continues to grow as more and more wireless providers demonstrate their commitment to voice recognition services and to the safety concerns of their subscribers," said Bill Schereck, President and COO for Preferred Voice. "This agreement with Plateau Communications is yet another positive step in insuring Preferred Voice's role as the only viable speech recognition provider to telecommunications carriers."

This network-based approach has become the desired service application method for telecom carrier, both wire line and wireless. This market launch is one of a series of scheduled deployments Preferred Voice has completed this year as part of an aggressive expansion plan. The company is installing and launching services with carrier partners on a weekly basis over the next two months. Preferred Voice, Inc. has developed cost-effective, turnkey solutions that enable both wire line and wireless carriers to offer their subscribers revenue producing voice recognition services, including Voice Activated Dialing.
